Don Martin is a progressive bass player with a diverse background.
He was introduced to playing musical instruments at an early age and began playing the violin in elementary school. He expanded
to playing the piano in 5th grade then he found his true love of playing the Bass Viol (String Bass) in 7th grade. He added
the electric bass to his repertoire in 8th and never looked back! Don continued with the Bass Viol through High School
and is credited with playing many different orchestra's to include the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In High School, he was
busy playing with the Jazz Band, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, school plays, and everything else that involved a
bass. Don received numerous Outstanding Performance awards for his bass solo's in the Jazz Band.
In Dallas,
Don joined the progressive Rock-N-Roll trio named "Flyte". Flyte continued to perform and record for approximately
6 years. After countless shows on the road and recording sessions, Flyte landed.
Since relocating to Georgia in
early 2006, Don has been busy with Magic Chair Sound Studio and his horses. In the Summer of 2008, Don
was lucky enough to happen across Cincinnati Rock-N-Roll party Band “In One Ear” when they had the bass position vacant. Don has been performing with In One
Ear ever since and the soulful voice of drummer Michael Shawn McCabe leads IOE. Lead Vocals can also be heard from guitarist Rob Hinson.
Dan Snow (Keyboards and harmonica) and Don Martin also assist on vocals to round out the IOE sound.
Don has been heard jestingly saying about his newfound friends and band mates, “Something is definitely WRONG
with these boys… they are actually ENCOURAGING me to sing!”
Don has
plans on rebuilding MCSS in the future, but until then, he can be found playing, recording, and having a great time with the
boys of “In One Ear”.
